Weekly Report: Creation to Greeks

MFW Blog Roll
This is more of an overview of Week 6 of My Father's World Creation to Greeks. We basically hit math this week so informally took School Week 7 off. I believe that I needed the break more than the gang did. We will complete Week 7 this week. Over the past two weeks, we have been pretty busy and I just didn't think about whipping out the cam with each activity during Week 6. We have restarted tackle football since the rain has ceased, continued our co-op as usual, changed dance classes (daughter was moved from toddler class to the big girl class), continued our drums, piano and guitar lessons as usual in between the grocery store shopping, bill paying, dental appointments, etc. Whew! ...and then it starts over again. LOL!

But briefly stating,

Grammar: In Winston Grammar, we reviewed nouns, pronouns, articles and started verbs.

Spelling: Simply Spelling arrived finally. Yay! But we didn't even start it. LOL! I enjoyed what I've read so far in the Intro and How to Use section. The literature selections and speeches look wonderful.

Math: In Teaching Textbooks Math 5 and 6, the gang just started this math two weeks ago and love it! They are begging to do a review on our blog so it will be coming. They have learned about number patterns and sequencing, comparisons, number words etc. etc. etc. LOL!

Writing: no Story Starters or writing in History this week. Oh we also picked up Spectrum Writing as a supplement after a trip to Barnes and Noble this week. I love that store. LOL! Spent too much! We are going to alternate Story Starters and Spectrum Writing. I think it will be a fun mix of writing for them.

History/Bible: In My Father's Word, we finished our learning about Pyramids and then started Abraham, the city of Ur, and we have started our memorization of the Ten Commandments. We learned about cities of the Indus Valley and did some oral narrations. Map work: Traced Abraham's Journey on a map.

Science: In My Father's World, we completed our lessons about the building of the pyramids, grew crystals while learning about pyramids and chemistry.

Reading: In My Father's World, our book basket books are The Golden Goblet, Tirzah and God King. Hopefully, we can finish these in the near future as we get back to our regular routine. We are still enjoying our Tanglewood's Secret. This is a wonderful book about Godly character. They beg for more each time I end a chapter.

Art/Music: In My Father's World, we learned about drawing and shading with lines. We listened to Vivaldi's "Summer" also.

Foreign Language/Vocabulary: In My Father's World, our greek word of the week is metron. I think you know the drill if you are using English from the Roots Up. Create a index card. Write the derivative on the back along with vocab words using the derived word. Look up definitions and write sentences then quiz. I love this curriculum. This is a great way for my gang to learn vocabulary without pushing multiple words too quickly.

And here's the gang reciting the Books of the Bible. My youngest twin son memorized all of the Books of the Bible. He's the second child speaking. They were so proud of themselves and wanted to share so here they are.. Oh, see if you can hear my southern accent. LOL!

Have a victorious week in our Father's world!

Peace.
